The Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church published this most important bilingual liturgical book—the Divine and Sacred Gospel—in 2023, in both English and Serbian. This 1,100-page, full-color, hardbound edition features dozens of illuminated medieval initials and eight beautiful icons of the Evangelists—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John— painted by Fr. Stamatis Skliris. The Divine and Sacred Gospel, published by the Holy Synod, now serves as the official liturgical Gospel Book in all English-speaking territories. It replaces all previously used editions of the Gospel or Evangelion in liturgical services, including the 1982 edition, which will be retired from active use and respectfully placed in church libraries.
